Brian J. Smith has been a healthcare, real estate and construction industry innovator for over thirty years.
A key player in development and implementation of numerous Capital Projects at the Cleveland Clinic for 26 years, Brian demonstrated enormous success as Director of Construction & Strategic Project Development. Starting in 1993 when the Clinic had 1 hospital, (the main campus) Brian was hired as Director of Construction. By 2019 that enterprise had grown into over 170 locations and was ranked the #2 hospital in the United States.
Before the Cleveland Clinic, Brian concentrated on development projects with Snavely Building Co.

In 2018, Brian formed Health-Tech Development, LLP dedicated to new development, strategic project development and owner representative services.
Brian devotes much of his time to continuous support of community driven service. He is a Board Member and volunteer Chief Operating Officer of Helping Hands for Honduras, an instrumental organization dedicated to providing no-charge pediatric cardiac surgery for infants and children suffering from congenital heart disease in Central America. He is also a longtime, founding Board Member of Medwish International, committed to re-purposing medical supplies and devices to developing countries; Medworks, a provider of free healthcare clinics to the un/under insured of Northeast Ohio; and the Honduran Children’s Rescue Fund, which provides humanitarian aid and project support with other healthcare agencies in Honduras. Brian was recently named “A Guardian Angel of the Children of Honduras” by the Honduran Health Ministry and has been named the Cleveland Clinic ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in recognition of extraordinary community and international volunteer service.

He is the past president of the American Institute of Constructors, Northern Ohio Chapter, as well as an investor in North Coast Angel Fund/EMBA Investments, which accelerates technology startups in Ohio. He earned two undergraduate degrees in Construction Technology & Engineering and an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
